Our Low Rate Mastercard and Platinum Mastercard come with a range of insurances to help you prepare for the unexpected.

Everyday Insurance is included for both cards and our Platinum Mastercard also includes Travel Insurance. Cardholders don’t need to do anything to get this cover – it’s automatically activated when you purchase your travel using your card, if you meet the eligibility criteria.

Everyday Insurance

Purchase Protection¹

Provides 180 consecutive days of cover against the theft, or accidental damage for new items bought on your card for personal use.

Limit per claim: NZ$675
Limit for all claims combined in any 12-month period: NZ$675
Excess per claim: Nil

Price Protection¹

Reimburses the price difference between the original price of an item you have bought and the lower price for the exact same item within 30 days of your original purchase.

Limit per claim: NZ$500
Limit for all claims combined in any 12-month period: NZ$1,000
Excess per claim: Nil

Mobile Phone Protection¹

Gives you cover against accidental damage or theft of your eligible mobile phone if you pay your post-paid monthly bill or prepaid top-up using your card.

Limit per claim: NZ$800
Limit for all claims combined in any 12-month period: NZ$1,350
Excess per claim: NZ$55

How to make an Everyday Insurance claim

To file a claim, log on to nz.mycardbenefits.com, contact AIG by emailing APAC.Mastercard@aig.com, or call the AIG Customer Service team on 0800 231 234 Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5pm (except public holidays). Please email all claims correspondence and details required to AIG at APAC.Mastercard@aig.com.

An overseas policyholder preference applies. Under Australian law, if The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd is wound up, its assets in Australia must be applied to its Australian liabilities before they can be applied to overseas liabilities. To this extent, New Zealand policyholders may not be able to rely on The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd’s Australian assets to satisfy New Zealand liabilities.
