Under 18 or don’t have a NZ passport or driver licence?

If you're wanting to open an account for someone under 18, or you don't have a NZ passport or NZ driver licence, you’ll need to send us a message, visit your local branch or call us on 0800 872 226 or +64 6 968 7300 if overseas. We're available 8am-6pm Monday–Friday and 9am-5pm weekends.

What happens next?

Verify your identity

Once you’ve completed the form, we’ll verify your identity and address using our digital ID verification tool and your smartphone.

We'll then give you a call within three business days to finish setting you up as a customer.

Get set up with Online Banking

Once you’ve been verified, we’ll open a Connect Plus account and help get you set up with online banking. From there, you can open additional everyday, savings or term investment accounts.

Opening a joint account?

If you want to open a joint account, you’ll need to provide some information about the other person, so we can contact them to complete the online form and verify their identity as well.
